June is a time to honour the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
As educators, we have a responsibility to ensure Indigenous perspectives, voices, and ways of knowing are meaningfully woven into learning throughout the year, helping to build understanding, respect, and a more equitable future for all.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈 MSSTA proudly stands with 2SLGBTQIA+ students, educators, families, and communities this Pride Month and every month.
We believe that every classroom should be a place where all people feel safe, valued, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves. Through inclusive teaching and learning, we help create schools where diversity is celebrated and every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Every red dress tells a story. Every empty space represents someone deeply missed.
As educators, we recognize the importance of learning, truth, and remembrance. Today, and every day, we honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People, and commit to continuing these conversations in our classrooms and communities.

MSSTA Executive members had the chance to tour the St Vital Museum before their monthly meeting, including seeing the newest exhibit, a collection related to the long history of scouts and guides in St Vital. We also got to hear from the passionate museum board members about how this incredible collection of artifacts can help tell our students the story of this beautiful and vibrant South Winnipeg community. The museum is open Wednesdays and Saturdays to the public and can be open to host school visits and some other special events. If you are a Southend kid or have taught in this community, it is definitely worth checking out, for your own interests and to consider bringing your students! MSSTA is looking forward to working with the St Vital Museum to support our members in accessing this hidden gem and wealth of knowledge.
