Dear Schools of Winnipeg,
I am delighted to inform you that the “Try The Trades” program is open once again, offering students a unique opportunity to explore various skilled trades and vocational careers. This program has been highly successful in the past, providing hands-on experience and practical insights into trades such as Carpentry, Millwrights, Heavy Equipment Operation and more.
Given the growing demand for skilled trades professionals, this program is designed to introduce students to the diverse career paths available in the trades industry. Participants will gain valuable skills, engage with industry experts, and understand the educational and training pathways required for these rewarding careers.
The “Try The Trades” program is open to all high school students and will be held at the Manitoba Building Trades on 225 McPhillips Street. Currently Manitoba Building Trades has been allocated funding for 70 sessions, The enrollment is limited so we recommend early registration to secure a spot.
We would be thrilled to collaborate with your school to make this program another success. Please feel free to contact me directly via the information above for more details or to schedule your Try The Trades session. We are currently available to book in June and are hoping to begin scheduling September and onwards.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to working with you and inspiring the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Larson

September 30th marks a critical remembrance in our nation’s history – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a day when we pause to listen to the voices of our Indigenous communities and to remember the painful chapter of residential schools. We must come together to recognize the significance of this day and our collective responsibility in the process of healing and reconciliation.
