The UMSAE Baja team designs and builds a single-seat off-road vehicle every academic year to compete in an international competition hosted by SAE International.

Competition Day 4: endurance race day!! We started off the day bright and early to get everything ready for our 4 hour endurance race. Colter started out driving and unfortunately had a really bad crash within the first lap that caused the entire team to race back to the paddock. A few welds and an entire front suspension and axle fix later, we were back on the track! Colter managed to get us up a couple places and we ended the race in 37th! For coming back from an hour and a half fix, we are very happy with this result! We then watched the award ceremony and enjoyed the banquet before packing up the trailer and heading out. Thank you to for this event and to all the volunteers and workers in Palmyra for helping make it happen! Lastly, thank you to our wonderful team for being so hard working and dedicated this season!! Thanks to our graduating seniors, Massis and Kealan, for your amazing work on the team! Good luck in your careers! We are looking forward to next year🔥

Competition Day 2: dynamic day!! Got to the site bright and early to get into dynamic brake check line. We were first in line and passed first try! We then headed over to hill climb where we made it up no problem. Colter and Uday hit the practice track a couple times, then Uday did both runs of maneuverability back to back. Uday did both acceleration runs as well, then Colter strapped back in to do another run of hill climb. We all spectated suspension and traction before Colter went out to do both runs, with a best run of failure at gate 12! Had to fix a small 4WD problem at the end of the day, but overall a super fun and awesome day at the track!

Competition Day 2: back at it for day 2! We had an amazing full circle moment today at comp. 4 years ago in Rochester we were the very last team to finish technical inspection... and this year we were the 5th team to get through! Seeing the growth of this program in real time. After passing tech we had design presentations! Each lead presented the highlights of their design and they killed it! Unfortunately we weren't able to do dynamic brake check today but we will be back bright and early tomorrow for all the dynamic events!

Competition Day 1: first day!!! We arrived at the hill nice and early for check in then immediately went to engine check which we passed first try! We then did a couple small fixes before getting in the technical inspection line, which ultimately got cut short while we were in the tent due to a storm. We headed back and had supper as a team, practiced design presentations for tomorrow, and played some nine square. Heading to bed early for day 2 🔥

Today and yesterday we spent about 32 hours total travelling from Winnipeg to Dundee, NY! We stopped at Summit Racing and one of our cars even stopped at Niagara Falls on the way! Super excited to get underway at competition!

Busy day yesterday! Comp is getting closer and closer! Yesterday we finished up some fixes on the car and did another mock technical inspection. We also got some UMSAE merch in!!😎

Huge thanks to our alumni who came by to inspect the car and gave us valuable feedback ahead of competition. Cant wait to see this car fully built and out at competition. Stay tuned!🏁

It's starting to get real. The shop has been veryyy busy ever since exams ended! Today we worked on getting the car ready for a lot of important installations tomorrow. Body panels, front hubs, axles, fairing, seat, and seat harness have been added/worked on. Some machining, steering, and welding also got done today. Safe to say the team is hard at work 💪. Thanks to everyone who came out to help!
