The Little Red Barn Sanctuary

Another difficult post to share💔
We’ve lost our sweet Betty to congestive heart failure😭
Like all sheep, Betty was the gentlest soul. When Betty first arrived five years ago, she was very shy but over time, Betty began to realize we only wanted her to live her best life💞
She was friends with all the Residents, but most special to her was dear Hummus🙏🐑With both being older, and needing special care, they spent most of their days together hanging out in the barn or up by the house in the pasture or front lawn. Betty loved Strawberries and pumpkin and her little face was often covered in red or orange juice❤️

Our vet rushed to Betty’s aid to help her cross the rainbow bridge but Betty had her own plan and peacefully left this world unassisted with us beside her. Thank you Dr. Marks for your constant care and compassion. Betty had experienced a couple health crisis over the past year but this time her age and heart could not overcome her condition. She passed away peacefully with Hummus and Daisy nearby as well. Thank you for welcoming Betty into your family. She was a special girl to all who knew and loved her.

Our oldest pony Nicky isn’t doing well💔💔😭😭
We are staying close to him. Thank you for taking such good care of him. It is possible his long term melanoma tumour in his throat area has spread to other internal organs. We are trying a steroid to see if there is any improvement in his respiration. Please keep Nicky in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you Margaret for supporting Nicky’s care and always loving him❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Don’t worry I had already given them apple slices but they wanted to try a bite of Polly’s apple too😂🥰

Patches has fully recovered from his castration, thank you to for your amazing care as always❤️❤️❤️
There will be no breeding or babies for this pair, just a life long home filled with lots of love🫶
They are quickly getting over their fear of people and are learning about new snacks and making new friendships particularly with our ponies!

It’s been a whirl wind weekend at our Little Red Barn Sanctuary and we haven’t had a chance to catch our breath! Once again we successfully completed our large Battery Caged Hen Rescue! While worrying about the horse auction and saving two beautiful brothers, we also successfully negotiated the freedom of hundreds of hens and two roosters just like Gerry and Kramar!
More to follow, in the meantime we are desperately working to get lifetime homes for everyone and settle everyone in. We are so grateful for everyone who donated to save Rye and Coke from auction.
