The Centre for Human Rights Research at the University of Manitoba is proud to support We’re Better Together - a new national campaign led by the Canadian Council for Refugees / Conseil canadien pour les réfugiés and partners to boost Canada’s support for immigrants and refugees.

In Canada, we speak many languages, come from many places, and across our differences, we look out for each other.

While we see politicians abroad spread lies to turn neighbour against neighbour, here in Canada we reject those who use divide and conquer tactics to distract us while chipping away at the healthcare and services we all need and letting housing prices spiral.

We are proud to be a country that welcomes newcomers, and we expect our leaders to carry on that legacy and make this a place where all families can thrive. Because in Canada, we know we’re better off together.

Stand with us. Show your support for immigrants and refugees.

Get involved in the campaign and sign up for updates: BetterTogetherCanada.ca.

People with autism each have unique ways of thinking, sensing, and feeling that impacts how they experience, process, and interact with the world around them. Differences that help build stronger, more innovative societies. Not despite their neurotype, but because of it.

Autistic Pride Day was created by autistic people, for autistic people – not as an awareness campaign, but to celebrate autistic voices, identities, experiences, and the infinite strengths that autistic people contribute to our societies.

Today, and every day, we’re proud to support autistic pride.

Brain Injury Awareness & Pride Month remind us that visibility, inclusion, and care must extend to everyone — including 2SLGBTQQIA+ survivors of intimate partner violence.

RESOLVE Manitoba’s new resource, developed as part of the Exposing an Invisible Crisis research project, highlights how survivors in 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities face unique barriers, and how experiences of violence can include traumatic brain injuries that often go unseen and unsupported.

It is so important for First Nations communities to be able to access and use their health data to support their communities’ health priorities.

So we co-created this guide to address issues that First Nations communities may face in accessing their own health data in national databases 👉 https://ow.ly/IpQi50Z9nAL

Our aim is to support First Nations community members and their health-related goals — whether that is improving care, checking how well services are working, or developing stories, plans and proposals to build the case for new services.

As Tom Lindsay, a Cree advisor from One Arrow First Nation, illuminates, the strawberry plant helps to outline the process of working together:

“Just like the strawberry plant, relationships need strong roots to grow.

Those roots come from a foundation of trust, respect and shared understanding…

The strawberry also teaches that growth takes time. It requires patience, nurturing and a willingness to tend to those roots continuously.”
