What a beautiful weekend to take down signs with my sign crew, hubby and son. I got a lot of them but unfortunately some were taken.

It was also a great weekend to reconnect with my supporters.

Maureen and her cute dog Lily wanted me to win and she even told her neighbours to vote for me. She told me to come visit anytime and come by if I need anything and, her fence is available for my signs next time I run.

Art was disappointed I didn't win, "it was so close, my family, 4 of us voted for you." He said, "promise me you will run again in 4 years."

Rayis said, " You deserved to win. I'm keeping your sign for the next election."

Michael on Burrows, said, "I voted for you and thought for sure you would win. Everyone thought you would win."

This was just some of the encouragement I received over the weekend. What a way to end my candidacy for School Board Trustee Ward 8.

Thank you for all the love Ward 8 neighbours!!

Thank you is just not enough for all the support I received over the past two months.

Team Laurie worked hard and I'm proud of the people around me. 5000+ homes and apartments with a small group of volunteers, family, friends and colleagues. My husband Michael and son Talon putting up 400+ signs, which they will get by the weekend.

The one on one interactions at the door is where I listened and learned what people wanted and their concerns for their children and their community. So, important and valuable!

Last night I only lost by 150 votes to the incumbent and chair of the WSD Board Betty Edel, that says something. It says my neighbours, parents and community are not happy with her 8 year performance. The results might have been different without the Winnipeg Labour Council support.

The exciting news, we have 7 new school board trustees. Congratulations!!! to Lois Brothers, Kathy Heppner, Rebecca Chambers, Tamara Kuly, Dante Aviso, Perla Javate, and Ann Evangelis.

This is not the end for me but only the beginning. Thank you for believing in me and casting your vote for change.

I care what type of support and education my son and your children receive in WSD that is why I am co-chair of St. John's High School Parent Council and running for School Trustee Ward 8.

Today is the day to Vote. This is when your voice is heard.

Are you happy with the current WSD Board?
The WSD has the lowest graduation rate. What needs to change because our students and their families deserve better?

Why am I the best candidate?
I'm running because we need change. I'm a passionate mom and NE community member, resident for 24 years. I have worked and educated the public about challenges faced by inner city youth. I have represented my community and parents through being Chair on Parent Councils and Board Member of North End Women's Centre in North Point Douglas. My husband is a teacher and has taught in the North End. And, as a family we love and support our Ward 8 community.

Am I dedicated and willing to work hard as a School Trustee?
I've been to 5000+ homes and apartments with a small group of volunteers, made up of my family, friends and colleagues. It's because I care and I've listened to your concerns.

My heart is in the right place and my alliance is to the parents and community I will serve in the WSD. I will work hard with the 8 other trustees to support our children and empower our schools and educators.

2022 Municipal Council and School Boards Election
is tomorrow, October 26.

I have learned a lot in my travels to meet you. I listened and wrote down your concerns and I understand your frustrations as a parent and community member.

I have worked hard to get your vote and will continue to listen and work just as hard for you when I am elected School Trustee for Ward 8 on October 26.

Vote Kozak!

Putting yourself out there and campaigning is not easy. I have shed a few tears and I'm tired, but I get up, brush myself off, stop feeling sorry for myself, and continue because I know what I am doing is right. We need to remover barriers to education, empower teachers and support staff, safeguard programs and services, and make school accessible to all students.

I've asked my family, friends, colleagues to support me. Thank you for your endorsement.

Vote Kozak on October 26, School Board Trustee Ward 8

Anyone can throw a flyer or mail a letter in your mailbox. Its easy to make a website, post photos and record a video. As I walk house to house, (4700+), my constituents tell me over and over again, it's the one on one, the face to face connection that matters. "It shows dedication." They can feel my passion for wanting to make a difference and in those few minutes we get connected. Vote Kozak for change in Winnipeg School Division Board! I want to be your voice!

2 days, 1 hours until Election Day! Vote!
