In order to enrich teaching activities of MACS, improve students' Chinese reading level and literary accomplishment, encourage knowledge and experiences exchanges, as well as to implement our MACS’s mission of serving the Chinese community and promoting Chinese culture, our school has successfully held 2024 MACS TD Bank Cup Chinese Oratorical Contest on Mar 23, 2024.
After careful review by judges, outstanding contestants of all classes have been finalized. In order to encourage students, MACS is holding a contest on social media platforms for the public to vote for the Best Popularity Award from the outstanding contestants among the best ones of each classes. Please share this contest and vote for your choices.
Voting for Best Popularity Award starting today and ends on April 13, 2024. Results will be announced at a later time. MACS reserve the right to explain the terms of the event.

Dear parents, students, and teachers,
Year 2024 is the 50th anniversary of Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies. We will host the 50th anniversary celebration and 2024 Chinese New Year Banquet on Feb 18, 2024, at K*m Koon Garden. Approximately 600 guests will attend the celebration.
This celebration provides delicious food, wonderful performances, and raffle draws. We serve 9 main courses and 1 dessert. Performance includes lion dancing, student choir, instrument, dancing, etc. There will be raffle draw for you to win prizes, from gift cards to large screen TV. All profits will be used to develop our language and arts programs.
It is a great opportunity for you to learn Chinese culture through celebrate our 50th anniversary and Chinese New Year with us. There are two ways to supporting us:

Our school will start the 2021-2022 school year on Sep 11, 2021. We offer Chinese language class and math class. Currently, we are still planning online teaching but may return to the classroom in near future (pending the approval of Winnipeg School Division).

What is HSK and why do I need it? | China Scholar Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) is the Chinese Language test. This Article will tell you more about what it is and why you need it for your study/work in China.

To 2021 April 24 HSK and YCT Test candidates or candidate's parents, please complete the following checks before exam date:

1⃣ Check your email and make sure you've received test admission ticket, Letter to Candidates, and HSK/YCT App Installation instruction
2⃣ Install HSK/YCT App and try mock exam in the app
3⃣ Join HSK/YCT info session at 7:00 pm, April 18, 2021 (Google Meet Link: https://meet.google.com/eyr-dujk-oti)

汉语水平考试是国际公认的语言考试，相当于雅思或托福，是衡量学生中文水平的客观标准之一。 同时，HSK成绩被曼省教育部承认，可以作为高中特别语言学分。作为汉考国际授权的官方考点，缅省中文学院将于２０２１年４月２４号举行本年度的首场考试，我们鼓励所有学生都参加。
这次考试除了常规的HSK 1-6级外，我们还增加了YCT青少年汉语考试和HSKK口语水平考试。我们建议：
• 1-2年级：YCT1-2或HSK-1
• 3-9年级：参加HSK 1-6级或HSKK口语初／中／高级
• 成人班：HSK 1-3级

Students and Parents,
HSK test is the internationally recognized language testing, and it is the official way to measure the Chinese levels of our students. HSK score is also accepted by Manitoba High Schools as special language credits.

Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies is the authorized HSK test center. On Apr 24, 2021, we will host the first HSK test of year 2021. We recommend all students to attend the test.
In addition to HSK test, we also added YCT and HSKK. YCT is designed for younger kids who are not ready for HSK test, while HSKK is testing the speaking skills. We recommend the following:
• Grade 1-2: Attend YCT-1/2 or HSK-1
• Grade 3-9: attend HSK 1-6 and/or HSKK primary/intermediate/advanced
• Adult 1-3: attend HSK 1-3
Please note: 1) All tests will be conducted online at your home due to the pandemic; 2) You need to have a windows computer (not supporting Apple Mac OS). You can learn more information about the tests on our website: https://manitobachinesestudies.com/hsk-test/ .

It is our intention to have all students to attend the test as our school will standardize our teaching system and link our objective with HSK tests.

You can discuss the above with your teacher and determine the most suitable levels. The registration cut off date is Apr 13, 2021. Then, we will have a training session on how to prepare the online HSK test.
