Each year in Canada, September 30th marks the commemoration of our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day “honours the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process”
(Government of Canada, 2022)

As National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is now observed by the closure of schools, GVC staff and students are invited to wear orange T-shirts and/or wear an “Every Child Matters” sticker on Tuesday, September 29th. Stickers will be available as students arrive at school in the morning for those who wish to honour and remember in this way.

It's our first Early Dismissal of the year!

A little bit of information about Early Dismissals in GVSD:

💫Students will be dismissed at 2:10 pm in order to allow all staff to take part in our monthly Staff Meetings.

💫Buses will run like they normally do, just an hour earlier!

💫At the high school level, all classes are shortened slightly throughout the day. This allows students to attend all of their classes for the day, rather than missing any subjects. You can swipe to see the adapted schedule for the day. ➡
