The amount of work behind each piece found at Makers varies- some take a lot of forethought and preparation; especially custom pieces, since they are tailored to fit perfectly with a specific person’s taste and preference. This is one of this pieces, and we wanted to share this process with you. Faye spent approximately 70 hours planning, preparing, and weaving this beautiful seaside-inspired shawl for a very special person. The material used was mohair (which is why Faye was always covered in mohair for a period of time), and this was woven on a Leclerc 45 inch loom. The finished size of this piece was 37 inches wide and 110 inches long.
We are constantly amazed by the talent of our makers, but Faye has really wowed us with this one 😍❤️

My heart is filled with pride and gratitude for all of the wonderful folks who come to Makers on Wednesday & Friday afternoons to create useful, handsome lap robes for others in our community who can benefit from their talents and the time they give to this project. The materials all originate from donations made to us, knowing what we do with these donations.
Now, we never expect our knitters & crocheters to work exclusively on this project. They can always work on their own projects while enjoying the time they spend among friends.
This particular project was to create a lap robe for each and every resident of the McLeod House. After several months they had a wonderful assortment of these items to share with the residents. If this doesn't make a community stronger, I don't know what will!
Thank you to each and every person who put a stitch into one of these gorgeous pieces. You guys truly rock!
To anyone who knows (or wants to learn) how to knit or crochet, I encourage you to consider dropping in to meet this incredible group. Wed or Fri at 1 pm...be prepared to smile a lot!
