π±ππ: βπΌ Nivin Ghobreyal has 20 years of experience in teaching piano, having taught almost all age groups and levels, from beginner to advanced. Her biggest passion is playing the piano. She holds a masters degree in music education as well as a doctorate in philosophy of music. Nivin's goal is to get her students to fall as in love with playing the piano as she is.π
β’
She makes her piano lessons engaging and fun for the students by having a lot of activities to reflect multiple learning styles during the lessons. If youβve always wanted your kids to get involved in music, piano is a great option! Or if youβve always wanted to learn the piano yourself and have never gotten around to it, it is never too late! Nivin is always excited to teach new students and help them become the best versions of themselves!

πΆMusic Lesson Supplies
This 32-page Music Dictation Book by Hilroy has both lined sheets for note taking as well as blank musical staves. The back cover has a glossary of musical symbols and terms. Our new students start out with a fresh copy of this along with their beginner curriculum.
This book is the place where we write practice notes and examples, work through musical challenges, write definitions of musical terms, and best of all, get creative by writing out original musical compositions right on the spot!
This notebook is beloved and nostalgic for our school director because it's what she used as a kid to support her musical learning.
It's bilingual in English / French just like a lot of our students.

π±ππ: βπΌI grew up in a music school and around live music.
β’
For me, music is daily life. Thereβs music to bring you back to emotional moments of the past, to give you hope for the future, for staying present and enjoying the now. I use songs to set the tone at a party, to relax and tune in, to express myself. I listen to a lot of different genres of music, old and new, light and dark, happy and sad, upbeat and downtempo β from live music, orchestral performances, low-fi recordings and high quality productions. Iβm captivated by the visual components of music and band culture β record sleeves, t-shirts, posters, pins and flyers. I really like participating in and viewing live performances of all kinds.
β’
As a kid I took piano lessons πΉ early on, studying Royal Conservatory material because my older sisters also did it. I wasnβt super into it and didnβt practice nearly as much as I should have. I started to dread attending the lessons, and put up a fight with practice. I really really wanted to pursue voice instead, so thatβs where my path led me as a pr***en. I studied voice for several years under many incredible classical and musical theatre-based vocalists, participating in Royal Conservatory examinations and Kiwanis Festivals. As a young adult I discovered and kept a love for playing the keyboard to write my own music and accompany my singing.
β’
I own a South Windsor Morris Home π‘right close by to the school, where I have a screenprinting studio and a nice flower and veggie garden. I love bringing appreciation and enjoyment of the arts to diverse groups, and believe in the power of music to connect us. I thrive on building lasting and meaningful relationships with the schoolβs community of clients, teachers, parents and students in the South Windsor neighbourhood and beyond.
