PARC is thrilled to share the shortlisted plays and playwrights for the inaugural Jenny Munday Atlantic Canadian Play Award.

This new award honours Jenny’s memory and tremendous contribution to our organization, while offering support and recognition to Atlantic Canadian playwrights.

The winning playwright will receive a cash prize of $1,500 and a PARC membership. The two runners-up will each receive $500.

This year's shortlist finalists are (listed alphabetically by last name):

- "Deepwater" by Dan Bray (NS)
- "The Weatherman" by Brynn Cutcliffe (PEI)
- "Wharf" by Ryan Griffith (NB)
- "Dayboil" by Sharon King-Campbell (NL)
- "White or Red" by Sara Tilley (NL)

Please join us on July 23 at 12 pm at the Eastern Front Theatre Rotunda at the Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, NS and live streamed on PARC's page to celebrate this big day for Jenny's legacy, PARC and Atlantic Canadian playwrights.

Comme beaucoup d'entre vous le savent, nous avons un projet à long terme en cours, un projet de renouvellement de nos «grosses têtes » . Depuis plusieurs mois, nous travaillons avec Mermaid Theatre qui nous aide à concevoir de nouvelles grosses têtes dans un style de marionnette. Nous invitons la communauté à venir voir notre travail et nous aider avec ces petites tâches le jeudi 18 juillet de entre 10h et 16 à la salle paroissiale de Saulnierville.

Let’s give a hand for this week’s Member Monday feature: the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival. The Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival advances the art of puppetry by presenting sophisticated programs vital to the cultural life of Chicago. The organization also hosts live online workshops where you can participate anywhere in the world or join in-person workshops at the Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago. We thank the festival for its continued membership and the performance, community, and education opportunities it provides in the Midwest!

ANIMOTION

Multi-week Training Intensive May 13-24 2024.

The ANIMOTION Intensive was created to provide a platform where professional and pre-professional performers, and others, would explore the art of puppetry and related object movement techniques in a nurturing and challenging environment. Because there are few opportunities like ANIMOTION, response to our initiative has been tremendous with interest coming from all over North America. We are very proud to be able to provide this service to the theatre community from our headquarters in Windsor. During the two-week intensive training, participants will be offered the opportunity to glean as much knowledge and technical skills as possible though a series of carefully designed exercises, independent and collaborative scene work, and the development of finished pieces using puppets designed and built by the participants themselves.
