Cupe 1358 Making Schools Work
Cupe both in the schools and at the board office. CUPE represents 45,000 members in this sector in Ontario.

The Ontario School Board Coordinating Committee unites CUPE members in the Education sector who do the work that makes learning and teaching possible. They are the custodians and stationary engineers, administrative assistants, bus drivers, cafeteria employees, education assistants, ECE's, sign language (interpreters and intervenors), psychologist, social workers and more!!! The committee allows education workers from across the province to share information and strategies for bargaining and to discuss issues and policies of concern. With 300 CUPE locals organized into 24 regions, this committee helps locals to fight against contracting out and to defend public education in the face of cutbacks to education spending.

The next Province Wide Day of Action is in the workplace with all education unions united in a common front in bargaining with the government. On Wednesday, September 16th, over 275,000 members from all of the education unions will be visibly united in work sites - wearing purple and red, taking group pictures, and committing to each other to stand together to improve working and learning conditions in Ontario's schools.

CUPE Locals 1348, 27, 4299 and 1358 will be at Belle River Stroll the Street on Friday, September 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

We’ll have a CUPE booth set up along Notre Dame Street. If you’re in the area, stop by, say hello and enjoy the evening.

Stroll the Street is a family-friendly event with local vendors, food, shopping and entertainment, so feel free to bring your family along.

OSBCU has released updated school board budget information for 2026-27.

Across Ontario, 25 of 72 school boards are projecting deficits totaling almost $187 million. At the same time, boards continue to face staffing pressures, cuts and growing demands on education workers.

This information supports what OSBCU has been raising at the central bargaining table: Ontario’s education system needs more funding for staffing, job security, wages, benefits and better working and learning conditions.

As bargaining continues, it’s important that members stay informed, connected and ready to participate when action is needed.

CUPE members will be joining the OECTA delegation for the 2026 Windsor-Essex Pride Fest Parade this Sunday, August 9.

Here are the details for anyone planning to participate.

The parking lot is near the Walker Road and Ottawa Street area.Staging Area: Ottawa Street and Monmouth Road

Please arrive by 10:00 AM.
CUPE members will join the OECTA delegation.
Look for the OECTA Pride flags & CUPE Flags
The delegation will be lined up behind a white Ford F-150.
Everyone must be in the final parade lineup and ready to go by 10:30 AM.
The parade route is attached.
