There is a little bit of everything in this week’s collection! Bright colours, peaceful scenes, favourite characters and some very creative creatures.

We love that each piece is completely different and gives us a glimpse into the imagination of the artist who created it.

We’ve made bubbling volcanoes before, but this time we turned the experiment into a SUPERSIZED witch’s brew!

Our student mixed up a huge bubbling potion and watched the chemical reaction come to life. It was messy, exciting and the perfect science experiment for spooky season! 🫧🧪

This is what it is all about!

This weekend, Julie and Kaylee had the absolute honour of attending the graduation party of one of our longtime students, Hannah.

Hannah has been coming to Head of the Class every week since Grade 3. We have watched her grow from a little girl with the cutest dimples into an amazing young woman who was simply meant to help people, with her kind heart, fierce loyalty and determination.

Tomorrow, Hannah will attend her nurse pinning ceremony, and we could not be more proud.

The road hasn’t always been easy. Hannah has faced challenges along the way, but she has worked hard, pushed through and just kept going.

To think that all those years ago she walked through our doors as a Grade 3 student, and tomorrow she will be pinned as a nurse, is pretty incredible.

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. Head of the Class is about so much more than schoolwork. It’s about being part of a student’s journey, watching them grow, cheering them on and getting to celebrate moments like this together.

Hannah, we are so incredibly proud of you. Congratulations! You did it!

We have some exciting news to share about our favourite four-legged team member!

Our Head of Pawsitivity, Stewart, recently became a big brother to his new little sister, Isabella Joy (Izzy), and he couldn't be happier! He's been so gentle and patient with her, and the two are quickly becoming the best of friends.

With his exciting new role at home, we've made a little change to Stewart's schedule. He'll typically be joining us at Head of the Class during the day, giving him more time in the evenings to hang out with his sister, relax on the couch, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

We know so many of you have been missing him, and don't worry, he's not going anywhere! He's just enjoying a little more time at home with his new best friend.

Being Head of Pawsitivity and a big brother is a pretty big job!

A marble maze may look like play, but there is so much learning happening along the way!

Building and testing the maze helps develop planning, problem-solving, spatial awareness, fine-motor skills and perseverance. If the marble doesn’t go where expected, it’s time to make a change and try again!

At Head of the Class, everyone is working on something different, chosen especially for them and the skills they are building. Learning doesn’t have to look the same for every student.

We hope everyone had a great first week and is starting to settle into new teachers, new classrooms and new routines.

If tutoring is part of your plan for this school year, now is a great time to get your child’s spot on our schedule. September is always a busy month here at Head of the Class, and our after-school times are already starting to fill up.

We offer one-on-one support in Math, English, reading, writing, French, study skills and executive functioning.

Not sure exactly what your child needs? That’s okay too! We offer a free 30-minute consultation for new families. Come in, meet us, tell us a little about your child and we can figure out together how we can best support them.

We created some marvellous monsters during our latest science experiment!

Our student made predictions, measured the ingredients and watched closely to see what would happen when everything was mixed together. It was a hands-on way to practise following directions, making observations and learning about chemical reactions.

Learning can be a little messy—and a whole lot of fun!
