Something I try to incorporate into my fitness routine is to intentionally try new things in order to a) practice being a beginner at something , and b) see how my current practice gives me range outside of my current practice.

A bit part of learning is to continue to build on what you know. Sometimes that means moving beyond what you are taught because it was a lot more complicated then you were led to believe.
