A little autumn adventure for our littlest explorers is coming up tomorrow!

Giggles & Wiggles is back this Friday, and we’re bringing some fall fun into baby play with leaf piles and leaves in water for little hands to explore.

Whether your baby is just beginning to discover the world around them or is already on the move, Friday mornings are a chance to enjoy sensory experiences, tummy time, songs, stories and time together with other families.

We’re set up and ready to help at the CDC this morning!

Our FREE Car Seat Clinic is happening today from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, and drop-ins are welcome.

Bring your child’s car seat and get hands-on support with installation, checking the fit and harness, reviewing proper use and maintenance, and answering questions as your child grows.

Our team members supporting the clinic have completed the BCAA Child Passenger Safety Educator II course, so you’ll have knowledgeable support as you learn how to install and use your child’s seat correctly.

Big feelings can be hard to put into words — especially when you’re 5–7.

A Little Spot is a 5-week small group at the CDC that uses Diane Alber’s A Little Spot program to help kids ages 5–7 understand what they’re feeling and build practical strategies for managing those feelings.

Through fun, age-appropriate activities, children will explore anxiety, anger, sadness, happiness, confidence, love, peaceful feelings and those mixed-up “scribble” moments — while building the language to talk about them.

MERGE gives kids a place to spend time together after school while trying a little bit of everything — games, crafts, experiments and gym fun.

The focus is on having fun while encouraging creativity, friendships, active play, teamwork, respect and positivity.

October is here, and so is a whole new month of Giggles & Wiggles!

Join us tomorrow morning for our first Friday of fall-themed baby play. This week, little ones can explore leaf rubbings and autumn-themed Jell-O, along with our regular tummy time activities, stories, songs and sensory play.

We also have some fun crafts planned throughout October, including fingerprint autumn trees, pumpkin patch bum-prints and autumn ball-rolling paintings.

Starting solids is a big milestone — and it can come with a lot of questions.

When is your baby ready? Where do you start? What about purées versus finger foods?

Our Starting Solids workshop gives caregivers practical information to help make that next stage feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more manageable. Babies are welcome to come along, too.

Join us for this 2-hour workshop and learn more about introducing solid foods.

Tuesday, September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre will be closed for the day as we join people across Canada in honouring Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and remembering the children who never came home.

September 30 is a time for reflection and learning, and for continuing the work of reconciliation — not only on this day, but throughout the year.

The CDC will reopen for regular operations on Wednesday, October 1.
