Last summer the CCCIPC assisted with work plan development for the Invasive Species Council’s Stronger BC Action Team in the Cariboo Region.

Be sure to tune into our webinar on Grasslands of the Cariboo Region on March 22 @ 12 PDT. It will be hosted by GCC Director Eleanor Basset. Eleanor is a rangeland research ecologist with the Government of BC and is currently investigating post-wildfire plant ecology in the Cariboo. She conducts applied research to support science-based decision-making on the integrated management of range, forest, and wildlife resources.

A reminder that the deadline is Monday, February 28, 2022, to let us know where you are located.
The CRD will begin treating known sites of invasive plants on private and public lands in late April. Knowing the location of all Bee Yards and Organic Farms helps us carry out our Invasive Plant Management program effectively.

Please don’t dump garden waste ‘over the fence’ or into natural spaces.

Never dump hanging baskets or garden waste in nature! Not only is it illegal, but invasive plants quickly spread into surrounding forests. Be PlantWise! Bag removed plants, plant parts and seeds and dispose at a landfill or transfer station.

📸 Invasive Yellow archangel is quickly taking over this forested area, after garden waste was dumped from nearby homes.

Grasslands are a delicate and important resource! Used with care they will maintain their resiliency. But soil disturbance can create a long list of issues. Thank you to the GreenBelt Commission for your efforts :)
