Wemigwans Ecohome A community food sovereignty hub project/forest garden/reforestation/gathering place for families. Before this, the land was clear cut.

About 30 years ago this land was used for farming pigs that ate everything from the grasses to the roots of the remaining hardwood trees. Wemigwans ecohome is an innovative project on Mnidoo Mnising, Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, that aims to not only restore the hardwood forest, but to create:

-a community food sovereignty hub and forest garden

-a gathering place for families, children, and g

randparents

-a project from which to create educational resources in the Anishinaabe language for all learners

-and, a place to hold events, share intergenerational knowledge, education, and more.

Good news! Got my portable sawmill together now. The railing scratched up the surface so my brother drilled a hole for the baking handle and bent the aluminum back into place but it works!

Does anyone have a goPro they can donate to Zhaabidiiz? He's filiming a lot of what's going on with his phone but the videos are short and blurry. He has no data signal when he's out so needs something that can film and then the video be uploaded to his phone or a laptop and then sent around or posted.

The outhouse is done! Armando used cedar slabs and spare foam so no one freezes! The pond has a lot of work left but the garden is half way done. It's built up in layers with chicken manure, woodchips, and soil. Lastly the Viking Hut has begun to collapse. Lesson learned. It needed to be built with cedar instead of poplar.

Note- I'm also going to need some funding for a GoPro camera, a new hammer drill and generator, or a jackhammer to break through the limestone.... there is no way I can use a sledgehammer.
