Employment opportunity 📣

We are seeking a Kitchen Helper Instructor to deliver practical, hands-on training to prepare learners with the foundational skills needed to work safely and effectively in a commercial kitchen environment.

The program is anticipated to begin at the end of this month with the position spanning approximately 14 to 16 weeks, including preparation and program wrap-up.

This is a casual position.

💰 $43-49 per hour
⏰ Full-time based on 75 hours bi-weekly
📍 Dena Cho Ke'endi, Ross River Campus

In the Pit with Peter Johnston is happening this Friday, October 9th.

Featuring special guests Victoria Fred and Norma Kassi.

→ Victoria Fred is an Independent Associate Counsel based in Whitehorse, Yukon. She is currently the assistant negotiator and legal counsel for the Teslin Tlingit Council.

Victoria is also the vice-chair of YukonU Board of Governors and until recently led its Indigenous Advisory Circle.

→ Norma Kassi is a citizen of the Vuntut Gwich’in First Nation (People of the Lakes) and a member of the Wolf Clan. She is currently developing a land guardians program with guidance from Yukon First Nation communities.

Upcoming course at YukonU's Ayamdigut Campus in Whitehorse 👇

This introductory workshop presents Proximity Blasting Methodology, Proximity Blast Design Parameters, and Mathematical and Field Formulae for proximity blasting.

The workshop content includes the topics of:
→ Blasting Best Practices
→ Vibration Control Methods
→ PPV measurement principles and methods
→ Fly rock control for proximity blasts

Proper community interaction and engagement in proximity blasting and pre-blast survey requirements will be included.

Last week, we welcomed Consuls General from Europe and Japan to Yukon University's Ayamdigut Campus.

The day started with a tour around campus to learn about our trades, academic, and research programs.

Then they attended a reception where the delegation mingled with representatives from Yukon University, municipal, territorial, and First Nations governments.

We're grateful for the opportunity to share the incredible work of Yukon U's faculty and staff, and to discuss areas of shared interest and priority.
