Another great evening of Fresh Organic Fruits and Vegetables! Come by the Alpine Bakery (411 Alexander St.) between 4-7 pm on Monday August 11th and Tuesday August 12th for some delicious Canadian produce like apricots, apples, peaches, cucumbers and more. We'll also have our staples...grapefruits, mangos, melons, and avocados to name a few. Bring your friends and family and we look forward to seeing you next week!

Last night we had the pleasure of showcasing our students hard work in our 3rd Annual Art Show. Once again, our students went above and beyond and we are so incredibly grateful, proud and thankful to work together with such inspirational human beings!

Thank you all, families, friends, visitors for celebrating another amazing year. The children love sharing this moment with their loved ones and it means so much to watch the confidence from within grow.

Thank you to our wonderful board members who volunteered their time to BBQ, love and support our families and our school - it’s a great feeling to know our board of directors support us in making this event such a special opportunity for the children to shine.

15 (well 13 - two of the younger butterflies wanted to stay with us a bit longer) instinctually took flight today! It’s been an amazing 26 days of observations, rescue missions, awe, investigation and research - and we’ve discovered butterflies are incredible creatures that showcase the life altering transformations that life science is.
Although I’m not an insect person (lol Anna saved me every single day!) I love the fact that our students were able to witness such incredible nature. I also love that they are learning, through experiences, that our world is filled with interesting and wonderful beings that deserve love, care and compassion. 💕

Happy National Bee Day 🐝

We learned some really neat facts today about our good friends the BEE!!

🐝 Did you know that bees have 5 eyes!!!!!
🐝 They also do a bee dance called the waggle to communicate to their hive about where nectar and pollen are abundant.
🐝 They also carry pollen on their legs in little things called their baskets 🥰
🐝 the queen bee can lay up to 2500 eggs per day!
🐝 bees can see all colours except for red
🐝 bees use their antennas to smell

Bees alone contribute to pollinating over 80% of ALL flowering plants. Including, but not limited to 130 different fruits and vegetables. And bees are responsible for 30-35% of global crop production by pollination.

Through learning about all the things bees do for us, we found that we can also do things to help the bees 🐝

🐝 plant colourful native flowers in your garden
🐝 leave dandelions (dandelions and crocuses are their first nectar in the Spring)
🐝 support local bee keepers (the Yukon has some wonderful beekeepers!)

As many of you know, we as a whole, try to bring awareness to our planet and how it truly is our responsibility as humans beings to do our best to protect, inspire and promote how important our Earth is.

“If we take care of our planet, it will take care of us”

That it was an easy decision to work and try a collaboration project with 3 local women Annika and Emilie of Sunshine and Wild Co. And their designer Charlotte. Their company strives to source and provide eco friendly clothing, while designing yukon images!

Our students participated in a brainstorming project and through the process have helped to design a kids T-shirt with the theme of Our Earth is Important!
