Fun summer adventures...

Our little explorers visited different places to learn about science and nature. We explored the Fish Ladder to learn about salmon, visited the McBride Museum to discover Yukon animals (including bears!), enjoyed nature walks, explored the Yukon Gardens, played creatively in the sandbox, and had lots of fun at the park. Every adventure was a wonderful opportunity to learn, explore, and create happy memories together...

Our Preschool children explored different modes of transportation through engaging discussions, a visit to the Transportation Museum, creative car painting activities, and imaginative play. They also enjoyed playing in the sandbox, where they explored, created, and worked together. These hands-on experiences encouraged curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, language development, and social skills while making learning fun.

Our toddlers are having an amazing summer filled with nature exploration, outdoor adventures, park visits, splash park fun, creative crafts, and hands-on sensory activities. For the past three weeks, our little ones have been learning and exploring on the topic of Insects. We have discussed and learned about insects through storybooks, fingerplays, and music & movement.
We also had a special visitor from the RCMP as part of our Community Helpers topic. The children enjoyed meeting an officer, learning about safety, and exploring how police officers help our community. It was a wonderful learning experience for the children. Thank you, RCMP officers, for taking the time to be with us today!

Today during our library tour, the preschoolers participated in an engaging orientation about the importance of the library, books, and reading. They enjoyed listening to stories, joining action songs, and exploring the different areas of the library. The children also experienced how to borrow and return books, as well as the importance of using quiet voices and showing respect to others while in shared spaces. It was a fun, meaningful, and enriching learning experience for everyone. Thank you to our dear librarians for generously sharing your time with us.

This summer in Whitehorse, our Early Childhood Educators took part in a two-part Salmon Workshop hosted and organized by ECEYT at Yukon University on August 8 and 22. Through inquiry-based learning, they explored the fascinating lifecycle of Yukon salmon and deepened their understanding of its cultural significance.
Equipped with a comprehensive Salmon Kit provided during the workshop, educators were empowered to bring their new knowledge into practice—sparking curiosity and meaningful exploration with the children. The kit provided all the tools needed to dive into hands-on learning, fostering a shared journey of discovery about salmon and their vital role in Yukon ecosystems and traditions.

We had a an action-packed day yesterday at the GWJ Inter-Game Sportsfest at the F.H. Collins track and field grounds. Followed by a fantastic time today at the community BBQ hosted by Riverdale Baptist Church at Rotary Park.

Toddler and Younger Preschool Update:
We had such a fun time heading out for a long walk along the Millennium Trail! The kids were buzzing with energy and curiosity—picking up interesting rocks, admiring colorful flowers, and spotting birds fluttering by. The highlight of our walk? Friendly firefighters waved and greeted us along the way, which absolutely thrilled the children!
We took a break to enjoy some snacks outdoors and soak in the fresh air—it was the perfect little adventure.
We went at the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site, where the children had a fantastic time exploring. Their enthusiasm was contagious as they wandered around and took in the sights. It was a day full of nature and joyful discoveries!
