Little Munchkins Daycare

Dear Parents and Guardians,

SUMMER IS HERE!!!! Finally! We are all very happy to see warmer weather and sunnier days. All of our groups will be spending a lot more time outdoors enjoying the weather while it lasts. Please ensure that your child is at daycare by 10:00am so that they can join their groups for a walk to the park.

Reminders:
Now that summer is here we ask parents to make sure that we have spare clothes for your children, sunscreen, sunhats and water park suitable clothes for toddlers and up.

Daycare payments are due on the 1st of each month. Late fees of $25/week will be added to any payments that are late. If you require a payment arrangement , please let us know.
We accept post dated cheques or e Transfer to [email protected]. (Password: Daycare or child’s Name) No Cash is accepted at the daycare. Thank you

Holidays:
Many of our staff have booked off time for summer holidays. There may be some cases that in order to accommodate this we will have substitute teachers or we will mix groups together. Please welcome all of our subs, and be patient if your child is with a different group for the day.

We also ask that if you will be taking holiday time over the summer, please let us know well in advance so that we can also plan for your child's absences.

Daycare Summer Themes:

Dinosaurs and Volcanoes !!!

Preschool Parents:
June will be Christina's last month working at Little Munchkins Daycare. She will be spending the summer with her family. We will all miss Christina when she is gone.

Our preschool room will be having some renovations done in July. Our preschool children will be moving to a temporary new space on the toddler side until renovations are finished.

Notice:
Some children will be off for the summer and others are off to school in September. Please remember to Give the daycare a one month written notice when our services are no longer needed.

Closures:
June 21 – National Aboriginal Day
July 1 – Canada Day
August 19 – Discovery Day

We are looking for a fun energetic teacher for our three year old preschool. Must have experience and childcare certificate or diploma.

Reminder that we will be closed April 19 and 22. We wish everyone a happy Easter long weekend.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have been very busy at the daycare, getting ready for spring!
Since the weather is warming up outside please make sure your children have the appropriate clothing to go outside every day. We recommend splash pants with a warm jacket and a warm sweater, rubber boots as well as hats and mitts. Children love to crawl, splash and explore puddles so please make sure you send clothing that will keep them warm and dry. Extra clothes are always recommended.

Daycare payments and Fees
Just a reminder that all daycare fees are required by the 1st of each month. Payments can be made via cheques, Money order or E transfers to [email protected] . We do not accept cash at the centre. A late fee of $25 per week will be applied after the 1st week your payments are late.

Daycare themes for Programming this month:
Your caregivers have been very busy putting together an interesting program for your children this month. If you would like more info on actual activities please feel free look at your child’s teachers program posted on your parent board .
Easter/spring : Change of weather, baby animals, plants sprouting and snow melting.
Transportation: Land, water and air!
We will have an Easter party April 18 at the daycare, Children are welcome to bring healthy snacks to share with their friends.

Important Updates
Child care Services is updating the food guide policy for children. In the meantime please continue sending healthy snacks and lunches. Please remember to send a variety of snacks as children seem to have more of an appetite now that we are outside more often burning energy.
Please remember that we currently limit foods that are highly processed and high in sugar and salt content. We always encourage fresh fruits and vegetables!

Also, we have had some staff changes recently. Meenu and Julia are back from holidays. Andrea has taken over our 3year old group and Katie is working as a supported child care worker at our centre. Ashley will be on holidays for 2 weeks and we have a new teacher starting In April. Her name is Lovedeep. Please take the time to introduce yourself. Christina Will be back in May.

February Newsletter

Welcome to the wonderful month of February.
With Valentin's Day Fast approaching their is definitely a feeling of love, Sharing and friendship in the air.

Morning Drop Off and Pick up
Please remember to let staff know when your child arrives in the morning and to bring your child rainbow mat or Infant room area between 7:30 to 8:30 am. If your child will be arriving or departing the daycare earlier or later please call us at the centre or let your caregiver know so we can prepare your child for the changes.

All children should be at the centre by 10:00am and no later. If we have not received a phone call that you are arriving later then 10:00am, we will assume that your child will not be in and you will loose your spot for the day.

* Please remember healthy eating is a very important part of a child’s development. We are still following the child care act food guide, Snacks 2 food groups & lunch must have 4 food groups until otherwise stated. If you have food concerns or need more food suggestions please ask your teacher.

As the weather is changing, parents are to be aware that when the park is very icy all children will not be playing at the park and will be going on walks. Please make sure your children have warm walking boots, mitts, hat, scarf/neck warmer, snow pants and a jacket. Children may go outside in the morning and/or the afternoon depending on the weather condition. We try to go outside for a minimum of 1 hour a day if the weather permits.

Please remember to take off all wet and muddy foot gear before entering the centre. Children walk sometimes with bare feet and crawl in the centre and we do not want them walking in wetness or catching a any bacteria.

Parents please provide plastic bags, zip lock bag or reusable bag for all wet and dirty clothes as the daycare do not have any bags on hand. Thank you to the families who donated some.
