Alberta’s government is making an update on what has been done since Fall 2025 to strengthen trucking safety.

Alberta's government is raising the bar for commercial driver safety by strengthening training, cracking down on bad actors, and holding unsafe carriers accountable.

To date, five fraudulent trucking schools (Class 1) have been shut down following audits and or investigation Alberta’s government is also working with federal partners to strengthen enforcement across jurisdictions. Since October 2025, Alberta's government has issued 443 administrative penalties, removed 20 unsafe carriers from our roads—including 13 chameleon carriers—and suspended six companies for misrepresenting where they operate.

Since April 1, 2025, Alberta's government has inspected 95 per cent of licensed Class 1 driver training schools and continues to maintain strong oversight to protect the integrity of commercial driver training.

Alberta's government continues to pursue stronger legislation and work with industry to crack down on non-compliant drivers, carriers, and training schools that put Albertans at risk.
