Keynote speaker Chris Sheetz, whose journey - from the tractor to radio personality, community champion and powerful storyteller - reminded us of the incredible impact one person can have.

With a family of educators and a deep appreciation for the teachers and mentors who helped shape his own journey, Chris shared an important message: you never know where a child’s abilities may take them.

Through stories, laughter and powerful examples of community coming together - from fundraising efforts to stepping outside his comfort zone - Chris reminded us that the extra time you give matters, to treat people well, and to make your life bigger.

And perhaps most importantly: What you do matters more than you know. Your impact is immense.

A refreshing and inspiring start to a day focused on learning, connection and meaningful interactions with colleagues.

The best way to kick off a new school year? Hearing directly from the students we serve. 🎤

We were incredibly honored this morning to welcome NGPS graduate, Jimmy Ferguson, to give a student address and introduce our keynote speaker.

Jimmy absolutely blew the room away with his insight, gratitude, and energy, sharing his "CHIP" philosophy on what makes a truly great educator, and reminding us that the best impact comes from being: Challenging, Humble, Interesting, and Passionate.

Jimmy recognized the hard work that extends to every single corner of NGPS, from our educational assistants (EAs), librarians, and receptionists, to our tech teams, maintenance crews, bus drivers, HR personnel, and custodial staff.

And we’re off! 🚀 We have an incredible division-wide PD day ahead filled with collaboration, learning, and team building. You can feel the shared passion in the room as everyone prepares to welcome our students back!

Setting the anchor for 2026-27! Today, division leaders - including principals, assistant principals, and division office staff - gathered in Sangudo for our first Anchor Meeting of the school year.

Before our classrooms fill with students, our leadership team is busy planning and setting a strong foundation. Together, we are committed to ensuring an inspiring, safe, and supported school year for every student and staff member across the division. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead NGPS!

Please note that all NGPS schools and the Division Office will be closed tomorrow, August 25, for a division-wide Professional Development Day. All staff will be engaged in professional learning and development as we prepare for the year ahead.
