Supporting change-makers is one of the missions of International Women's Day. Today, we take a moment to reflect on Maria Montessori's remarkable accomplishments as a trailblazer, a champion for children's rights, and a groundbreaking educator.

Montessori education is now present in over 25,000 schools worldwide, spanning more than 140 countries. Her legacy extends beyond the education of children to encompass the holistic development of the entire human being, with her approach to education still having a significant impact today.

Starting off the New Year with some inspiration from AMI Primary Trainer, Ginni Sackett. She goes on to say “A second truth emerges from the first and it is equally discoverable. Children will learn life affirming values based in love as easily and as readily as they learn life-destructive values of hatred. These are truths which will change the world as we know it. Maria Montessori dedicated her life to these truths-not as theory; not as belief; but as scientifically proven realities. These truths lie at the core of our Montessori work; they represent the global view of our individual practice”

This is what fuels our work at AMI (Canada). The knowledge that in this very moment there are guides, administrators, assistants, support staff, and trainers, working together towards a collective goal of peace. We’re grateful for each and every one of you. Together we will “change the world as we know it”. 🕊️

FME is thrilled to offer the AMI 3-6 Diploma Program in a new more accessible format starting in April 2024! The course will be delivered in modules that include synchronous online learning in the evenings, some asynchronous learning, in-person classes at FME, as well as observation and practice teaching. A HUGE thank you to everyone that joined us at the "Celebrating Montessori's Potential" conference on Saturday! Our hearts are still full from the camaraderie, the sharing of stories, the singing and laughter. Our ask at the beginning of the day was that we all open our hearts and minds to each other and you certainly did just that. Hopefully you are able to carry that joy with you as you return to your important work. We are so grateful to all of you!
