ICKF Karate School

This picture popped up! A Blast from the past the 2007 Soke Cup World Championships held in Bergen Norway featuring Bogu Kumite! High impact Kumite with Japanese style protective equipment. Three members of ICKF Karate School represented Team Canada and had incredible results. 9 medals from 3 represented. Senpai Chris won the 16-17 category Kumite without getting scored on. Sensei Ed won the Men’s Black Belt Heavyweight Kumite without getting scored on, Senpai Nick picked up silver in team. The three of us began our training camp a year out and intensified as the months approached! We trained 6 days a week including 2 a day sessions and intensive sessions! I’m not sure if a teacher and a student have both won Gold at the same Soke Cup World Championships without getting scored on but it certainly is rare if ever happened before or since. I am proud of our work at this prestigious competition and this picture always brings a smile!

Congratulations to Somiya Brown on being a recipient of the George H. C. Docherty Memorial Cup for Sportsmanship! Somiya is a Shodan who has been training at ICKF Karate School for quite sometime! Somiya is hard working and determined but most importantly always willing to give back and help others! A great example and very worthy of this prestigious award in memory of my late Father George Docherty! He would have been proud of you Somiya!

Fantastic International Zoom training our representatives Zan and Mathew in South Africa 🇿🇦, Steve in Norway 🇳🇴 and our friend Sensei Perry in Saskatchewan! Fantastic energy working on the finer points of She Ho Hai and Neiseshj Kata focusing on Tanden and Waki no Shime also great to see young Mathews speedy Kumite techniques! Great Fun!
