We meet Tuesdays at 7:25PM EST at The Court in Brooklin. Email [email protected] to join! Brooklin Toastmasters is part of the Toastmasters International organization; a non-profit, educational group, dedicated to helping members sharpen speaking, listening and leadership skills. At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a fun and supportive environment. We meet every Tuesday night from 7:25pm to 9:00pm…Come and Join us EVERYONE is welcome! We are currently meeting online via zoom and in person in the loft at Longo's in Brooklin.

The theme was "Think Big" at the Brooklin Whitby Toastmasters meeting on Sept. 22! Word of the day was…ubiquitous, Toastmaster of day: Bruce Richardson

The speaker of the night, Kris Nelson, DTM, spoke about downsizing her parents' home. Her project was Innovative Planning #4-1 - Manage Projects Successfully - 1. Not easy, as it is a big house and there was a lot of stuff!! Her plan: prioritize (what stays), sell, gift and throw out! Not everything will go according to plan.

A great success at Brooklin Whitby Toastmasters! Improve your Public Speaking Skills Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, drew 23 attendees, including members, from surrounding clubs, and guests.

The meeting theme, and Career Achievement, featured two speakers, , and evaluations.

The club president, Kris Nelson led the event as Toastmaster. Flora, a one-year Toastmaster, gave an icebreaker titled Still Becoming. She was followed by 19-year-old Toastmaster DTM Dennis Bartel, who gave a speech on body language titled The Package. Dennis talked about an unexpected package at his door.

Guest Ben won Table Topics with his response: If I had a million dollars…VP Education Bruce Richardson asked questions during Table Topics.

Toastmasters District 123 Division E Director Mary Pomeroy Brown served as the general evaluator.

The event aimed to showcase the Toastmasters program and how it can change lives by building strong communicators and leaders.

The meeting theme was back-to-school, as it was the first day for most kids, and the word of the day from Division E director Mary Pomeroy Brown was refresh. September is always a great time to refresh, Mary said. Two guests, O’Neil & Myro joined us at Brooklin Whitby Toastmasters for the meeting!! YEAH!!!! Bruce Richardson was the of the day.

Dennis Bartel told some back-to-school jokes to set the mood! They were funny, at least to him!!! HA HA!!

Kris Nelson DTM and Club President, the speaker of the night, spoke about lessons that come from knowing what not to do. She talked about a bad boss she had many years ago who had a poor leadership style, blamed others, was bossy, and micromanaged. Kris talked about leaving becuase of the bad leadership. From bad leaders, Kris learned what not to do so she could do the opposite and be a good leader. She shared ways to be a good leader and what not to do while describing her leadership style.

Long-time member and DTM John; led the (impromptu speaking practice) session by announcing a topic, then choosing who would speak on it.

Topics included:
- good and bad points of the first day of school
- favourite subject in school
- least favourite subject in school
- favourite teacher
- favourite snacks for breaks
- tricks to get food into young stomachs
- least favourite teacher

The best table topics award, as voted on by everyone in attendance, went to our guest, O’Neil !
