One of the learning methods that Trafalgar Castle School is big on is collaborative classrooms.
Our small class sizes enable our students to collaborate in a variety of ways — from whole-class, small-group, and roundtable discussions to across grades, subjects, and co-curriculars.
Evidence shows that inquiry-based, collaborative approaches, coupled with intentional skill-building, are integral to active, student-centred learning. In our collaborative environment, learning isn't about memorizing theory but about testing ideas. When our students work in groups or participate in discussion-based learning, social interaction turns into academic strength.
In addition to enhancing academic learning, our students learn to actively listen, navigate disagreements, practice empathy and take ownership of their learning rather than passively consuming information. Collaborative classrooms also break down barriers for quiet or hesitant students by reducing anxiety of speaking in front of a full room.
These collaborative learning environments turn our classrooms into interactive learning communities, changing not just how our students view learning, but also how they view their own potential.
