Though they try to remain hidden, don't be alarmed if you accidentally find one these friends visiting your flowers this summer! You might even notice something stinky, since Hermit Flower Beetles emit an odour when frightened π¨
Adults feed on sap and occasionally fruit, while their larvae reside inside rotting or dead wood, helping to break it down over the three years it takes them to mature.
At night, you'll find these friends attracted to lights, so keep an eye on your windows!
Now that we are in the prime of summer (aka, bug season) stay tuned for more Friend or Foe posts and reels, where you can learn about the critters living in your garden ππ·οΈ
