Building social skills in Kindergarten is needed for later skill development. Children need time to play and engage with each other alongside mentors who watch and only intervene as necessary.
Let children disagree, argue, and problem solve on their own. Model this for them and scaffold those skills as needed.

Childhood is meant to have more exploration, more curiosity, more freedom. There’s time. Working on language and math is important and we do that, too. Just not at the requirement of sitting still.
The school year looks different when you can engage in learning outside. Yes, we still learn math and language skills, but children are given opportunities to practice through hands-on projects.

came by to do some creek exploration with our group. Turning rocks, identifying crayfish, scud, fish and more. Many were intrigued by his wildlife adventures. We love when friends come to visit and expand our nature understanding.

There is something different about forest school and the expectation to just show up as yourself. Singing, playing games, and not worrying about whether your friends will find you “cool” is such a wonderful feeling.
The community our groups have made is so lovely.
