That 5th slide though π
β β β β β β β β β
Soooo... anyone for booty-blast, cardio pump, charcuterie hot-yoga with llamas later?! (Just kidding) π
β β β β β β β β β
..also if or ever wanted to do Cat Yoga so all the kitties could get furever homes... I would be SO up for it π»π»π» (part of the reason why these conversations are very nuanced).

What are your thoughts? π

Which perspectives do we share, and what differs? Let me know your thoughts on this potentially spicy post ππ₯π

Growing up, I knew that sauna was an important part of my cultural heritage. With Finnish ancestry, I remember making pulla bread with my grandma and trying to take the heat in sauna π₯ (...I couldn't cut it for long π€£) As an adult, I see that sauna goes beyond the physical body and shares perspectives with yoga.
β β β β β β β β β
In this special mini-retreat, we honour the healing practices of sauna and yoga through pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and asana (postures). Don't miss the chance to have a blissful afternoon surrounded by stunning cedars, spruce, and firsπ²

This is something I've struggled with for a long time, and it's one of the reasons I feel so passionate about keeping my "roots."
β β β β β β β β β
It's very possible to be connected to your practice and beliefs without "taking on" another identity. Some of those identities and big personalities you see "out there" are completely made up to mask something darker (speaking from direct and indirect experience).
β β β β β β β β β
So, here's my warning, AND hopefully, some of you relate π

With all this nostalgia floating around the internet, I figured I'd share some special moments from 2016, too.
β β β β β β β β β
β‘οΈ I'd always wanted to travel since I was a little kid with big dreams, but I'd had other priorities (ie university). In 2016, I was paid to travel; to share yoga and teach, mostly in trainings. This brought me to France, New Zealand, England, Scotland, and Colorado. It was so special to have so many bucket list moments I'd wanted my whole life in one year βοΈ
β‘οΈ Kev and I tied the knot ππ°π€΅π»π I could write a novel here, but if you know us in any capacity, you'll know how special this was (and all the surrounding events with froends and family)
β‘οΈ I had my last drink πΈ I never wanted a hangover to stop me from doing the things that I loved. No more missing mountain tops, shred days, or anything else important πππ₯Ύπ§ββοΈ
β‘οΈ we adopted Kali as a kitten from π» she is source of endless joy in our lives and makes us smile everytime we come home. She's purring so hard while I'm writing this π₯Ήπ
β β β β β β β β β
I'll always remember 2016 as a very special turning point and it gives me hope that little miracles happen, everyday. And eventually, those moments add up π

Last week, we practiced Astavakrasana (8 angle pose) in vinyasa, so here's your important reminder...
β‘οΈ There's no prize.
β‘οΈ There's no finish line.
β‘οΈ You don't become a better person or better yoga practitioner by always choosing the hardest asana.
β β β β β β β β β
It's beautiful to dedicate yourself to your practice, to get curious, to progress, BUT don't let that yearning for physical progression hinder your learning (and sometimes, unlearning).
β β β β β β β β β
I hope this perspective has offered some valuable insight next time you're on the mat βοΈ
β β β β β β β β β
π· from 2018. FYI some days I feel extremely steady in this asana, and other times I unravel and smush my face into the ground ππ

Wondering what "going deeper" really means? In this case, it's...
β β β β β β β β β
βοΈ studying philosophy so you can apply these teachings to your life, on and off of the mat π§ββοΈ
βοΈ in-depth breakdowns, because let's face it, some things are confusing unless you've broken them down and been given direct feedback. Hands on adjusting is also offered for those who want them π
βοΈ the opportunity to go beyond the asana (postures) AND breakdown specific asana so you can get breakthroughs in your practice β¨οΈ
βοΈ the chance to study mantra, pranayama, bandhas, and more, much more thoroughly than a primarily asana-based practice π

Rewarding? Yes. Fun? ...I'll let you scroll through the slides π (and ultimately, yes, sometimes it is fun).

What are your thoughts? Did this question confuse you, too? β¬οΈ
10/19/2025
When I first heard this phrase, I was so confused, "4 corners? But there are 3?" I had it explained to me that the heel was 2, with one point on either side. It still didn't fully make sense, but I shrugged it off.
β β β β β β β β β
Years later, I felt a wave of relief studying with Leslie Kaminoff, author of Yoga Anatomy, who also pointed out this difference. He suggested that three points of connection were more accurate for your feet anatomically.
β β β β β β β β β
The feet are the foundation of every standing asana, so it's important we can feel strong, stable, and comfortable. If a cue doesn't make sense, there's probably another way βοΈ

The other week, I caught a fake entry in our studio survey. Not a botβbut someone who actually knew the studio.
Right away, my mind started racing:
βWhy would someone do that?β
βWhoβs trying to sabotage me or the studio?β
Then, within 5 minutes, I did the best thing I could: I deleted it and moved on.
Itβs sad someone spent their energy that way, but I refuse to waste mine ruminating on the βwhat ifs.β
Our time here is limited. Our energy is precious. Choose wisely π
