Our Educational Assistants have come together today for a day of professional development, learning, and connection! 📚✨

Throughout the day, staff are participating in a variety of sessions, including wellness activities, SMG Training, AAC, UFLI, self-directed virtual training, trauma-informed practices, Neurosequential Model training, and technology tips and tricks.

Thank you to all our presenters for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise! Special thanks to the Primary Care Network for hosting a staff wellness session, and to the community organizations that joined us to share valuable information and resources!

Today, student-athletes from across our local and regional schools are gathering at Peace Hills Park in Wetaskiwin to compete in the LDAA Cross Country Finals.

Has your child expressed feeling stressed, anxious, or worried about school? Avoidance can sometimes look like sickness. If they are trying to avoid a test, a class, or a peer, staying home will only make that anxiety worse the next day. Reach out to our school support team Principal, Family School Liaison, Indigenous Support or your teacher—they have wonderful tools to help your child feel brave.

Today, we celebrate the incredible teachers who inspire, encourage, and support students every day.

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5 and recognizes the vital role teachers play in shaping education and making a lasting difference in students' lives.

At Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools, we are grateful for the dedication, compassion, creativity, and commitment our teachers bring to their classrooms and school communities each day.

Getting to school can look different for every family. Knowing what transportation options are available can help make school mornings easier and more predictable. Take a few minutes to explore the resources available to your family and find what works best for you.
🚌 Familiarize yourself with the WRPS Bus Status and transportation information.
🚌 Review your child’s bus stop, route, transfers, and schedule together.
🚶 If walking is an option, take a “practice run” of the route so your child feels comfortable and prepared.
🚌 If you have questions about transportation, reach out to your school. They’re there to help families access available resources and find solutions.

Staying home when genuinely sick is crucial, but minor discomfort doesn't always necessitate a full absence. Our staff is ready to support students. If your child seems fine but doesn't want to go, try to identify the underlying reason. Consistency is often the best cure for morning hesitancy.

Good attendance does not mean coming to school sick! We want to keep everyone healthy.

🤒 If your child has a fever of 100°F (37.8°C) or higher.

🤒 If they have vomited in the last 24 hours.

Then, they should stay home! For minor sniffles, they are often fine to attend. If you’re unsure, call 811 (Health Link) for 24/7 non-emergency health advice.
