This winter, our drive-in facility was broken into and damaged by thieves searching for copper wiring. The damage cut power to the entire building, leaving us without heat—something we rely on to protect our projector.
The projector has been safely moved, but it’s an older model and will need to be upgraded soon.
The larger concern is the building itself. It’s aging, and the cost of completely replacing the wiring may not be practical. On top of that, the building suffered significant water damage this spring due to multiple roof leaks.
We love operating the drive-in and offering a nostalgic movie-going experience for Nova Scotians. Many families travel to visit us, and this setback has been incredibly difficult.
Our original plan was to make modest renovations and continue using our current projector until we were ready for an upgrade. However, as a seasonal business that operates only 3–6 months a year, this kind of setback poses major challenges, and we are sorting through the realities of the situation.
We’re exploring ways to upgrade or rebuild the space for multi-purpose, year-round community use, so we can continue offering this rare and valued experience.
We’re staying hopeful, looking at different options, and figuring out how to move forward. But for now, we want to be honest: we will be unable to open this spring, and are uncertain we’ll be able to operate at all during the 2026 season.
We sincerely apologize to our loyal moviegoers and thank you for your kindness, enthusiasm, and continued support. This place exists because of you.
We’ll share more updates soon as we work through next steps and explore ways to move forward together.
