Hi everyone,
During Social Science Week next February, the Law, Society and Justice Profile Student Association will be re-creating the trial of Dr. Henry Morgentaler in 1988. In this trial, Dr. Morgentaler challenged the constitutionality federal abortion laws in Canada. The trial is considered one of the landmark legal cases in Canadian history.
We are looking for students to play roles in the trial and to help write the script. The roles we need to fill are:
Judges: Chief Justice Dickson, Mr. Justice Beetz and Madam Justice Wilson
Attorney and assistant-attorney: J. Macintyre and J. Laforest
Mr. Morgantaler
Morgantaler's lawyer: Mr. Morris Manning
Expert Witness
Court Service Officer (almost like a security guard)
2 women (either a pregnant woman, feminist or a woman who already got aborted)
Doctor: Dr. Robert Scott
Humanist: Mr. Wendell Watters
The Jury (this role is played by the public)
If you are interested in performing and writing, please contact Andrew Comeau ([email protected]) and come to a meeting on Tuesday Oct. 29 in 5B.13.
