Third year students play-tested board games they designed and built

AI-generated artwork is officially ineligible for copyright protection after the US Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal.

The court confirmed that only works created by humans can qualify for copyright.

The case involved computer scientist Stephen Thaler, who tried to copyright an artwork made by his AI, DABUS, called “A Recent Entrance to Paradise.” The U.S. Copyright Office rejected it because only human-created works can get copyright.

Lower courts agreed, and by refusing to hear the appeal, the Supreme Court let that decision stand.
