Want to get your pilot licence this summer? Airlines are hiring at unprecedented levels and this is the first step towards a commercial pilot licence.
Part of the process required by Transport Canada is 40 hours of ground school.
I prefer a level of interaction that only a live class can provide, however it will be also broadcast over ZOOM for those who can't attend in person. All topics are included to be able to write the written test with Transport Canada.
This course is aimed at the Private Pilot level but if you are interested in an ultralight licence, you can attend 20 hours to satisfy the TC requirement for an ultralight permit.

We were able to accomplish most of this ground school over ZOOM for the first time. Still could use a little tech support but all things considered it turned out well.
I think that some topics, like navigation, are easier to learn with more of a hands on approach like we had today.
I will be working on ways to improve the online experience and look forward to having another class in the fall.

Tonight I will be hosting a meeting on Zoom to discuss the process required to receive a Transport Canada pilot licence. 🛩️
It is free and can be done anywhere in Canada.
The courses will be Monday and Wednesday at 19:00MT and run until the end of April.
If you are unable to attend tonight or in the future, classes will be recorded to catch up on at your convenience.

Ground school for the Private Pilot and Recreational Pilot will be starting in Barrhead next week. (Feb 5)
It will be in class learning with an online portion I will be trying for the first time.
I haven't chosen a delivery platform yet, I am familiar with Zoom but would appreciate suggestions for a better way to deliver it if you know about this sort of technology.
2 or 3 nights per week for approximately 6 weeks.

If anyone is looking ahead to summer to obtain a private pilot licence, here is an excellent resource to start studying.
Transport Canada requires a minimum of 40 hours of ground school instruction in specific topics.
I haven’t gone through this entire course but at a quick glance it appears to be well written and covers the important material.
The best part is that this course is FREE. You still need a recommendation from a certified instructor but this resource outlines the steps required to getting your wings.
I will resume offering lessons again sometime in late February.
