Have confidence that seeds unfold and blossom...
When our efforts to help seem futile, we can trust that in another time and place there may be unexpected results. When we’re trying to address a problem, improve the state of the world, help a struggling friend, comfort a grieving child, it might all appear to be going nowhere. Yet our actions are like planting seeds in the ground. We don’t know for sure when they will bear fruit, and what looks like failure may be a time of gestation. Our work toward the good can be sustained if we don’t harshly measure the success or failure of our actions by the immediate, and superficially apparent, results.

One of the most powerful meditation techniques I use is very simple and easy to do. Before I start any new activity, I pause for a few mindful breaths and then I set a positive motivation for whatever I’m about to do. For example, I might think to myself, “May this activity ease the suffering of others in some small way or help them to truly flourish.” Even if what I’m doing is a boring task or routine, I find this shifts my perspective in a profound way and puts me in a more altruistic frame of mind.

With Olympics happening, this seemed appropriate. 😉

We don’t have to be any particular way, be special, prove or do something, to be worthy of love. We are worthy of our own love simply because we exist. We love and are love ❤️
You are a person worthy of love. You don’t have to do anything to prove that. You don’t have to climb Mt. Everest, write a catchy tune that goes viral on Youtube, or be the CEO of a tech start-up who cooks every meal from scratch using ingredients plucked from your organic garden. If you’ve never received an award and there are no plaques proclaiming your exceptional gifts hanging on your walls, you still deserve all the love in the world. You do not have to earn love. You simply have to exist. When we see ourselves and see life more clearly, we come to rely on that. We remember that we do deserve the blessing of love.

Do you have a daily meditation practice?
Are you feeling there is no distance between what you experience at work, in relationship, in your daily life and your inner experiences of calmness, relaxed mind, okness?
Have you come to know that you need structure or to practice with others to sustain your meditation practice?
Perhaps the Online Mindfulness and Meditation retreat that I am offering (based in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program and other meditations based in traditional medicinal, cultural and spiritual systems) is timely for you. Starting June 23rd. Details in events.
