Today we celebrate the communities, neighbours, volunteers, and first responders who help make Canada stronger every day.

Whether you’re spending the day at the lake, camping, watching fireworks, or enjoying time with family and friends, let’s make sure our pets and livestock stay safe too.

Canada Day Pet Safety Tips:

🐶 Keep pets indoors during fireworks or provide a quiet, secure place where they can feel safe.

💧 Bring plenty of fresh water and take regular breaks in the shade to prevent heat stress.

🚗 Never leave pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.

🥾 Walk dogs earlier in the morning or later in the evening, and always check pavement temperatures before heading out.

🏷️ Ensure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are current in case your pet becomes startled and gets loose.

🦌 Respect wildlife by keeping your distance and keeping dogs leashed where required.

🐴 If you’re travelling with horses or livestock, make sure trailers, water, and emergency supplies are ready before you head out.

🎒 Every family should have an emergency plan that includes their pets. A prepared pet is a protected pet.
