Saplings Outdoor Program

Saplings Outdoor Program Forest Education Preschools, a well as Before and After School Programs with Extended Hours for children ages 2½ to 12. Spring Break and Summer Camps.

Saplings outdoor program is a nature-based program located in West Vancouver, Vancouver, Squamish a new program K-3 program in North Vancouver. Our preschool programs are for children ages 3-6 years old. The main purpose of the program is to provide children with an opportunity to connect with the natural environment in a safe and enjoyable way. Nature is a child's best education. Creativity, nature, and play are the inherent rights of every child. Learning happens everywhere, and it happens best when children are immersed in authentic environments and situations. Our goal is to increase awareness of and connection to the natural world in order to foster compassion and empathy for the earth and all its inhabitants. We believe there should be an unhurried, healthy unfolding of childhood. We believe nature plays an important role in the overall well-being of children and is, essentially, the ideal environment for early childhood education. Intense creativity and strength of imagination, as well as a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world, will serve as a strong foundation for later academic learning.

At our After School Care, we spent some time recognizing Orange Shirt Day and talking together about what Every Child Matters means. 🧡
The children headed outside to collect orange treasures from nature, then worked together to create a heart, adding their own drawings and ideas along the way. 🍂
A simple but meaningful way to reflect on the importance of making sure every child feels safe, valued, included, and cared for.

Today in our Toddler Program 🌱
There is something pretty special about watching toddlers explore in the rain. 🌧️
To them, a rainy day isn’t something to avoid, it’s another opportunity to run, jump in puddles, feel the raindrops on their faces, get a little muddy, and explore the world around them.
These simple outdoor moments are where so much learning happens. They are building confidence, curiosity, independence, and connection, all while having so much fun.
And sometimes, the best memories really are the simplest ones: muddy boots, wet cheeks, lots of laughter, and a hand to hold along the way. 🤍

The first few weeks back at Saplings have been full of sunshine, big smiles, new friendships, familiar trails, and so many little moments of wonder. ☀️🌿
Our toddlers have even been baking in the forest 🥣🌲 mixing, pouring, exploring ingredients, and discovering that learning can happen just about anywhere.
Across our programs, children have been climbing, creating, exploring, asking questions, taking risks, problem-solving, and reconnecting with the outdoor spaces that become such an important part of their days.
We’ve been very lucky with these beautiful warm September days, giving everyone lots of time to settle in, explore, and enjoy being outside together.
There is something so special about the beginning of a new year watching friendships grow, confidence build, and each group slowly become its own little community. 💚
We’re so happy to be back for another year of learning, exploring, and growing together.

What an incredible summer it has been! From forest adventures and beach days to messy creations, big discoveries, new friendships, and lots of laughter, we’ve loved every minute with our Saplings campers. 💚
As we wrap up our final week of camps, our team is getting ready to shift into training week a chance for our educators to reconnect, learn together, prepare our spaces, and get excited for the year ahead.

And then… September! 🍂🍎 We can’t wait to welcome all of our Saplings kiddos back for another year of exploring, learning, growing, and playing together.
Thank you to all of the families who shared their summer with us. What a wonderful one it has been! 🌲✨

Our campers have embraced the weather this week, heading to the beach to explore, discovering beautiful shells, starfish, and all the magic that comes with a day by the ocean. There’s always something special to find when children have time to slow down, observe, and connect with nature.
