Meet Simone, one of Options’ writing coaches!⁠

Simone is eager to bring her expertise in writing, teaching, and mentorship to the Options community. She studied English Literature and Physiology at McGill University, an interdisciplinary background that shaped her thoughtful approach to communication and critical thinking. Her experience includes working as a course teaching assistant, supporting students in West Vancouver high schools, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Undergraduate McGill Physiology Students, and leading academic workshops in Montreal schools.⁠

Simone’s teaching approach is centred on meeting students where they are, understanding their individual goals, and helping them build the skills and confidence needed to reach them. She balances honest, constructive feedback with encouragement, helping students strengthen the clarity, organization, and impact of their writing while preserving their authentic voice.⁠

Last spring, Melinda visited Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, a liberal arts college known for its creative approach to learning and close-knit academic community.
