What does two days of real case work actually change for an investigator?

We just wrapped NFPA 1033 fire investigation training in Vulcan, Alberta!

A group of investigators spent two days working through real scenarios together, pushing each other to think harder about what the evidence actually shows.

Thank you to everyone who made the trip and put in the work, and congratulations to everyone who finished the course!

Your charger doesn't care that you've unplugged it. A battery can fail hours later.

Inspectors are seeing more of these calls: e-bikes, e-scooters, power tools, phones, all charging on beds, couches, stairwells.

This year's message is simple. Use the charger made for the device. Charge on a hard surface, away from exits.

Never overnight in a spot you can't see!

Rappelling, hose handling, smokehouse navigation, and three days of training a fire department would actually run.

A fire scene can tell a story... if you know how to look for it.

Just like an archaeological dig, investigators work through layers of material to uncover what happened.

Each layer might hold important clues about the cause and spread of the fire.

Taking your time and knowing what to look for helps protect the evidence and tells the full story of the scene.
