Team members from Niagara College (NC) returned to Tanzania from July 13-29, expanding on four years of collaboration with local partners as part of the Empowerment through Skills Program - ESP Tanzania (ESP-05).

NC developed and hosted a series of workshops focused on entrepreneurship, service excellence, culinary education, and institutional capacity building. The activities brought together partners from Bigwa and Munguri Folk Development Colleges (FDCs), as well as Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) Justice in Society for Transformative Change (JUST) and Young Strong Mothers Foundation (YSMF).

Funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada, ESP-05 is implemented by Colleges and Institutes Canada / Collèges et instituts Canada. This four-year initiative (2022-2026) provides alternative pathways to education, employment, and entrepreneurship for students and marginalized groups, particularly women. Learn more ⤵️

Niagara College is partnering with Radiant Care to offer an innovative Living Classroom Personal Support Worker (PSW) pathway that blends classroom learning with hands-on experience in a real long-term care setting.

Students complete their NC coursework while gaining practical skills through labs and placements at Radiant Care's new Pleasant Manor home in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It's a unique opportunity to build confidence, develop professional connections, and experience person-centred care firsthand.
