What is Shad? ✨

Shad is a month-long STEAM and entrepreneurship program for students in Grades 10 and 11. Participants experience post-secondary campus life, explore future pathways, take part in hands-on learning, and build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.

For more than 45 years, Shad has helped young people discover what they’re capable of and take their next steps with greater confidence.

Today, participants returned home carrying more than memories - they left with new friendships, bold ideas, greater confidence, and a community that will continue to inspire them long after this month.

What began as a shared experience will now become a connection that lasts far beyond Shad2026.

An exciting opportunity for the inaugural Shad UNBC cohort!

The University of Northern British Columbia is offering all Shad UNBC participants a $2,500 first-year tuition credit toward undergraduate studies at UNBC. We’re grateful to UNBC for continuing to invest in Shad participants and supporting the next steps in their educational journeys.
