For Wilfrid Laurier University student Kimiya Moin, a Community Psychology class placement at Luther and LSPIRG's Distro food program has brought connection, community, skill-building and a long-term volunteer opportunity.

Moin’s journey at Distro had what any student’s placement can hopefully achieve: a place that sparks their values and interests while building experiences they can take with them after graduation.

Distro has many moving parts, and it’s largely volunteers like Moin that make it happen.

Come journey with us through artwork that celebrates the Haudenosaunee Creation Story, and illustrates the new Six Nations booklet about the Haldimand Tract, "The Long Trail for Seeking Justice."

Hear from Six Nations leaders regarding the history of the Haldimand Tract, the Litigation Project, the Lands and Resources Collaboration. Six Nations' musicians Derek Miller (2X Juno award winner) and Sadie Buck will perform.

Today we welcomed a whole lot of Wilfrid Laurier University students to a special Chilling with Dogs session on campus as part of Laurier's Orientation Kick-Off! 🐶💜💛

Students across many different Laurier programs had the chance to learn about Luther as they adjust to their first few days on campus. We have courses and minors available to all students, as well as campus events and programming, just like today's snapshot of Chilling with Dogs!

Happy Orientation Day to our incoming students!

Our academic support team and program coordinators led informative sessions on preparing for success at Luther. We also welcomed a range of campus programming booths from across Luther and Wilfrid Laurier University for our student experience fair.

We were so excited to see campus filled with eager students with lots of valuable questions and smiles all around. You all have a fantastic learning journey ahead of you and we can't to see what you achieve during your time here.

Our Food Justice Garden is thriving! Join us for some learning and hands-on gardening right on campus at Luther 🪴🪏🫜

Emotions & Climate Crisis
Wednesday July 15th 4-6 PM
Eco-Emotions are feelings, emotions, or states of being related to the earth, involving identifying and acknowledging both positive and negative sentiments that come with the fast-changing world and climate change-related issues. Join us as we engage in discussion around how the environment affects our moods, emotions, and lives. As we discuss, we will be harvesting leafy greens and herbs from the garden for the weekly Distro.

Growing Native Plants
Wednesday July 22nd 4-6 PM
Growing native plants is integral to maintaining pollinator populations and healthy local ecosystems. Growing plants that have evolved to thrive in the exact conditions present in the area reduces water usage and supports our declining pollinator populations. We will be planting native wildflowers in the garden to support our flying friends.

Picnic In The Garden
Wednesday, July 29th, 4-6 PM
Join us for a relaxed picnic in the garden! Bring a picnic blanket, snacks, and friends to sit amongst nature while doing crafts and learning how to braid and process garlic.

We are pleased to announce and welcome Rev. Dr. Daranne Harris as Principal-Dean of Luther. Her five-year term begins Aug. 10, 2026.

Harris brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across congregational ministry, humanitarian aid and development, healthcare, and education organizations.

“I am excited to join Martin Luther University College in preparing leaders who can engage the challenges and opportunities of our time with thoughtful scholarship and spiritual depth."

We were so excited to see all the students, staff and faculty who came out to join us on campus for our Pride Fair to connect with so many amazing activity and resource booths from Wilfrid Laurier University and Luther departments, as well as the Waterloo Community.

🎶 Drag performance and prize giveaways at 1:30 p.m.

Laurier and Luther students, staff and faculty are invited to visit the Drag and DIY Pride Fair to get crafty and enjoy a show with incredible local drag performer, Kara Melle. There will be some prize giveaways too!

Activity stations include t-shirt tie-dyeing, bracelet making, affirmation cards, button making, temporary tattoos, rock painting, colouring, and much more!

Curated by instructor Sherry Coman, “Roots and Resilience: Growing Hope from Ashes,” is a new exhibition at Luther featuring the photography and writing of Ukrainian artist and gardener Alla Olkhovska.

Living in Kharkiv, near the border of Russia, she has spent 20 years growing rare seeds in her garden that are now sought after around the world. But war and harsh winters take their toll. Olkhovska offers a close look at the cost of war while remaining as committed as ever to hope and beauty.

"Roots and Resilience" will run from April 29-May 14, Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Keffer Memorial Chapel.
