Emotions & Climate Crisis
Wednesday July 15th 4-6 PM
Eco-Emotions are feelings, emotions, or states of being related to the earth, involving identifying and acknowledging both positive and negative sentiments that come with the fast-changing world and climate change-related issues. Join us as we engage in discussion around how the environment affects our moods, emotions, and lives. As we discuss, we will be harvesting leafy greens and herbs from the garden for the weekly Distro.

Growing Native Plants
Wednesday July 22nd 4-6 PM
Growing native plants is integral to maintaining pollinator populations and healthy local ecosystems. Growing plants that have evolved to thrive in the exact conditions present in the area reduces water usage and supports our declining pollinator populations. We will be planting native wildflowers in the garden to support our flying friends.

Picnic In The Garden
Wednesday, July 29th, 4-6 PM
Join us for a relaxed picnic in the garden! Bring a picnic blanket, snacks, and friends to sit amongst nature while doing crafts and learning how to braid and process garlic.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2026. We're so proud!

We are pleased to announce and welcome Rev. Dr. Daranne Harris as Principal-Dean of Luther. Her five-year term begins Aug. 10, 2026.

Harris brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across congregational ministry, humanitarian aid and development, healthcare, and education organizations.

“I am excited to join Martin Luther University College in preparing leaders who can engage the challenges and opportunities of our time with thoughtful scholarship and spiritual depth."

We were so excited to see all the students, staff and faculty who came out to join us on campus for our Pride Fair to connect with so many amazing activity and resource booths from Wilfrid Laurier University and Luther departments, as well as the Waterloo Community.

And an extra special thank you to Kara Melle for an amazing performance.

Laurier and Luther students, staff and faculty are invited to visit the Drag and DIY Pride Fair to get crafty and enjoy a show with incredible local drag performer, Kara Melle. There will be some prize giveaways too!

Activity stations include t-shirt tie-dyeing, bracelet making, affirmation cards, button making, temporary tattoos, rock painting, colouring, and much more!

Curated by instructor Sherry Coman, “Roots and Resilience: Growing Hope from Ashes,” is a new exhibition at Luther featuring the photography and writing of Ukrainian artist and gardener Alla Olkhovska.

Living in Kharkiv, near the border of Russia, she has spent 20 years growing rare seeds in her garden that are now sought after around the world. But war and harsh winters take their toll. Olkhovska offers a close look at the cost of war while remaining as committed as ever to hope and beauty.

"Roots and Resilience" will run from April 29-May 14, Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Keffer Memorial Chapel.

Luther was honoured and excited to host the Chancellor of the Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism, Venerable Miao Fan, and the deputy chancellor Ven. Miao Guang and their team as a stop during their visit to Toronto from their headquarters in Taiwan.

This visit was sparked from the development of new academic institute in Trinity College at the University of Toronto, called the Institute for Humanistic Buddhist Thought and Practice. This is in collaboration with the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto.

We are so happy to have had our faculty meet our guests and make valuable connections, and chat about how we can learn from each other and collaborate in the future!

At The Delton Glebe Counselling Centre's Albert St. location decommissioning, the room was filled with many people impacted by the space and its rich history.

We heard important stories and remarks from students who had their counselling internships there, former residents of the house, and leadership from Luther, Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, the Glebe and Member of Parliament Bardish Chagger. Each one of these individuals had a role in making this space the caring community that it was for students and the Waterloo Region.

In 2013, when the building became the first location for the Glebe Centre, it was named in honour of Rev. Dr. Delton Glebe, a former educator and Principal-Dean who had a vision for care and counselling that impacted our learning community greatly. Although this building's 100-year history comes to a close with the redevelopment of the property, the centre will continue forward and expand The Glebe's vision of care and counselling for students and the wider community at their Weber St. location with important goals to provide affordable, long-lasting care for all those who need it.

After over a decade, The Delton Glebe Counselling Centre's Albert St. location is closing, with our decommissioning event on April 30, 2026. The house itself has had a significant impact on Luther's student community since 1918, linking Luther's past to present as we look forward to the Glebe's future.
