How do you earn the "FAAO" or "Fellow" designation?👀 As promised in yesterday evenings presentation, here are Candidate for Fellowship application timeline examples.

You have 3 years from the time of applying to complete the Candidate for Fellowship process. You will need to submit 50 points of written works, which can be earned in a variety of ways. As a clinical candidate, you will need to complete at least one case report.

There are excellent resources on the Academy website that go through writing case reports in detail, including several sample cases from previous candidates.

The Academy offers the Student Fellowship program to encourage optometry students to fully experience the annual meeting, stimulate increased participation in the meeting’s events, promote future involvement in the Academy, and help encourage students to become Fellows upon graduation. The program is also a great opportunity for students to acquire new knowledge and exposure to the latest advancements in technology through lectures, workshops, posters, and more. It is designed to serve as a guide for optometry students as they develop their skills as optometric professionals. Requirements include being a current optometry student, a current student member of the academy, attending Academy, and attending continuing education events, poster sessions, symposiums, and submitting written pieces about your experience.
