🌺 Remembrance Day at WIS 🌺

Yesterday, our students and staff gathered to honour and remember those who served and sacrificed for peace and freedom.
Through reflection, silence, and gratitude, we were reminded of the courage and resilience that shaped our world today.

🕊️ Lest we forget.

🍁 WIS Thanksgiving Potluck | A Feast of Gratitude and Togetherness 🧡

As autumn leaves painted the campus in gold, our WIS community gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving with warmth, laughter, and—of course—delicious food!

Students from different grades brought their favorite homemade and store-bought dishes to share, filling the room with amazing aromas and happy smiles.
🍗 Main dishes included chicken sandwiches, handmade Chinese mómo, and Middle Eastern samosas bursting with flavor.
🥗 Sides like potato salad and crispy fried chicken added even more color to the table.
🍰 Desserts stole the spotlight — strawberry cream tiramisu, brownies, apple pie, pecan tarts, and the Thanksgiving classic: pumpkin pie!

It was a joyful afternoon of sharing, connection, and gratitude — a perfect reminder that Thanksgiving isn’t just about food, but about the people we share it with. 💞

🍂 Happy Thanksgiving from WIS!
May every effort be appreciated and every moment together be cherished.

📘 Every Step Counts at WIS 🌟

At Waterloo Independent School, we believe in Care. Guide. Lead. — caring for each student’s growth, guiding them through their learning journey, and leading them toward independence and confidence. 💙

Every week, our teachers carefully record each student’s learning progress through the Weekly Progress Report — not just grades, but the development of essential skills that prepare them for life:

💡 Initiative – showing curiosity, creativity, and the courage to take on new challenges.
🎯 Responsibility – completing work on time, being prepared, and taking ownership of learning.
🧩 Organization – planning tasks effectively, setting priorities, and using time and resources wisely.
🧭 Self-Regulation – setting goals, staying focused, and overcoming difficulties with persistence.
🤝 Collaboration – respecting others’ ideas and working effectively as part of a team.
📖 Independent Work – learning with minimal supervision and taking initiative to improve.

These reports strengthen the connection between students, teachers, and parents, ensuring that every learner recognizes their strengths, reflects on challenges, and grows week by week.

At WIS, we believe that consistent small progress leads to great achievements — because every step forward matters. 💫
