Best Behaviour
Every day, we see the potential for learning and the possibilities are endless!
Early learners thrive on quick, fun activities! We especially love any game that can be played in a short 3-5 minutes, as this is perfect for encouraging turn-taking and developing crucial visual matching skills.
Here are some of our current favorites for the little ones:
Dominos
Pop the Pig
Spot It
Bingo
These games offer powerful opportunities for learning in play!
What games are a hit with your early learners?

I’m an ABA therapist, so yes, I’m basically on stage all day.
Performing, hyping, clapping, and celebrating every little win.
And when I clock out?
Give me silence, reality TV, and a bubble bath like my life depends on it
Balance, right?

Q: How far in advance should I start introducing our new summer routine?
A: It’s helpful to start talking about a new summer schedule 1-2 weeks in advance. For some children, they may want to see the entire summer mapped out on a calendar! For others, giving them a week at a glance may be enough information for them to take in at once.
Talk to your child the night before any big changes in their routine. Highlight things that might be different. For example, maybe their camp program includes lunch so they won’t need to pack their usual lunch bag. Or they’ll need to pack different things in their backpack every morning, like sunscreen and bug spray.
Summer vacation can be fun and exciting, and also stressful if change is hard.
Reach out today for some individualized support with navigating transitions this summer.

We love incorporating games into therapy. Play is one of the most natural ways to learn and build skills!
These are four of our favourites right now and what makes them so great for learning:
5 Second Rule: Excellent for developing the ability to brainstorm and respond quickly, building flexibility and fluency.
Pickles to Penguins: Encourages making connections, thinking about how things are the same or different, and boosting vocabulary!
Hedbanz: A fun way to practice asking and answering WH questions and developing simple perspective-taking skills.
Train of Thought: Perfect for practicing on-topic conversations.

Summer vacation is just a month away. Here are 5 tips for autism-friendly family travel:
Prep with Predictability: Use visual schedules, social stories, or a countdown calendar to explain what will happen on your trip or when it’s happening. Prepare your child for any new experiences. Flights and hotel rooms can be exciting, but new things can also be scary. Using pictures or videos to show your child what they’ll be doing. You may even be able to set up some mock trial-runs!
Plan Sensory-Friendly Activities and Schedules: Plan a trip that includes activities you think your child will enjoy, and accommodations your child will feel comfortable in. Think about how you build a successful school day or weekend, and carry those elements into your summer trip plans. For example, if your child is at their best in the morning, plan for adventurous mornings and slower afternoons. If your child loves the water, find activities that include water play.
Pack Essential/Comfort Items: What items are non-negotiable / must-haves? Think noise-canceling headphones, favourite stuffies, fidget toys, weighted items, safe foods etc.
Plan Your Exit Strategy: Plan for movement or sensory breaks. Know where you can retreat to when you need a quiet space if needed.
Save for your next adventure, and share your travel tips below!

Backyard set up is well underway! A little elbow grease goes a long way, and reminds us how much we value outdoor learning. We love taking sessions outside, and so do the kids!
