Winston was lovingly gifted eternal rest around 3:30pm this afternoon. Brad and I together, with the advice of our trusted veterinary team made the tremendously difficult decision to end Winston’s suffering before it inevitably got much worse.
His cancer diagnosis was terminal and his physical state declined shockingly fast but according to the experts, was very typical. Winston’s tail was no longer wagging. He was physically exhausted but unable to sleep. Winston was in obvious pain and was no longer loving his life the way he deserved to. His body was full of cancer. Winston’s beautiful spirit faded quickly and his physical appearance and behaviour showed many signs that our time together was reaching its end.
Our boy was sweet, kind, strong and spoiled till the end of his time here with us. We spent his last day together as a family. He enjoyed visits from his wonderful neighbour friends (who we truly can’t thank enough for their love and support). Winston was provided every special treat he could dream up and got his very own shopping spree and special park visit too. We cannot thank you all enough for loving us and our fur babies.
We are very much not okay and expect it will take time for our hearts to heal and our home to feel less empty.
