In 2026, the International Mathematical Union (IMU) awarded the Fields Medal to Jacob Tsimerman, a professor of mathematics at the University of Toronto and the second Canadian to receive this honour.
Tsimerman was an outstanding participant in the June Seminar organised by the CEMC, now known as the Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics (Auckland) Workshop, which he attended in 2003 and 2004.
Reflecting on his association with the CEMC, Tsimerman shares, βThe CEMC has done a wonderful job supporting young mathematics students for a long time, and I personally benefited greatly. I actually met some of my best friends through the Waterloo seminar, and the competitions run by the CEMC were a big part of my childhood!β

Our team would like to express gratitude to all of the students, teachers, parents, donors, and school community that joined us this year as another academic year draws to a close. Whether you participated in a contest, explored our resources, attended a workshop, supported our work, or shared your love of mathematics with others, you were part of the equation.
We wish you a restful, joyful summer and look forward to learning together again in the new school year.
Stay tuned to see what we're working on this summer as we prepare new and updated resources, programs, and opportunities for the coming school year.
