Attention music teachers, private vocal and instrumental teachers, community choir and band directors, and dance instructors: the 42nd Annual Midwestern Ontario Rotary Music Festival is coming to Walkerton April 13 – April 21 and registrations are due by February 1st. Classes are available in piano, voice, organ, instrumental,strings,dance and spoken word. Community choirs and bands are welcome! Congratulations to all my students who performed in our annual Christmas Concert. The evening was a splendid success in many ways. I'm so proud of you all!! And thanks to our very large, very wonderful audience! We were able to give $115 and a trunk full of groceries to the Walkerton Food Bank!! Merry Christmas to all 🎄

Recitals aren’t just performances. They’re emotional training sessions, which is why we have SEVERAL throughout the year at CMM!

What’s Happening in the Brain: Heart rate rises → amygdala reacts. Child breathes + focuses → prefrontal cortex steps in.
Child plays through nerves → builds self-regulation pathways

Life skills that this teaches our students:
1. how to calm themselves
2. how to keep going when nervous
3. how to recover from mistakes

Music helps children learn to manage big feelings, which is a life skill every parent wants. As we get ready for next weekend's recitals, let's normalize the importance of showing up over and over again, and celebrate the effort of each and every one of our students!

Another successful year of voice lessons was concluded last night at our celebration concert. Celebrating accomplishments, successes and Canadians music. These were the singers who competed at the music festival. Kylie and Sabella went on to win at the provincial level. So proud of all my students!!
