Smart placement saves time and energy. Herbs by the kitchen, compost near the garden, and firewood by the door reduce steps and increase yields. When you design with your daily patterns in mind, you harvest more with less work.

What’s one thing you’d move closer for convenience?

For me it would actually be putting a dore on the south side of my home as wour was designed with all access on the north, and im creating our gardens, play area and main yard on the south side.!

Think of Biochar as a Condo for Microbes 🦠🏢

We talk a lot about "feeding the soil" in permaculture, but we also need to house the soil life!

Biochar—the key ingredient in the ancient, super-fertile Terra Preta soils—is essentially pure carbon with massive surface area. Just one gram of biochar can have the surface area of a football field!

Why does this matter?

It creates permanent structure in your soil.

It absorbs nutrients and water, preventing leaching (runoff).

It gives bacteria and fungi a safe place to hide, reproduce, and thrive.

Pro-Tip: Never put "raw" biochar directly into your beds! It’s so absorbent it can suck nutrients away from plants initially. Always "charge" (inoculate) your biochar first by soaking it in compost tea, urine, or mixing it into your compost pile for a few weeks. 🍂➡️💎

🌱✨ I neglected my garden for 30 days during a drought. It didn't just survive. It thrived.\

You think a vibrant garden requires constant work and daily watering.
False.

This summer, I didn't water my garden for a month straight. During a scorching drought. The result? It flourished.

Pour rappel , plus de 75 % de la population du Québec, soit 6,3 millions de personnes, est approvisionnée par une eau potable provenant d’eau de surface (fleuve, rivières et lacs).
Seule solution, réduire notre dépendance aux pesticides !
Heureusement, les solutions existent mais le manque de volonté politique / l’influence des lobbys de l’agrochimie empêchent de les mettre en place à grande échelle.
